The number must stand out from the surrounding graphics. Check the contrast on the actual colour of the vest and leave a clear space from name, sponsors and decorative patterns.
What to consider
A number visible on an enlarged mockup can be less legible in the normal layout. Digits with similar shapes deserve a direct comparison, as do any thin outlines. The sizes and positions allowed in competition depend on the event: don’t use a generic guide in place of the organiser’s instructions.
How to prepare your project
Define a single setting for the team and try one- and two-digit numbers in the draft. Check front and back only in the views actually available; if a necessary view is missing, ask for it before confirming. Finally, compare each number with the roster approved by the contact person.
