The short answer
First define the hierarchy: which information must be read first? On the back, name, number and sponsor need recognisable areas, without simply being enlarged to fill the whole space.
What to consider
A layout that looks balanced on a large size can become cramped on a small one. Ask for at least the extremes of the supply to be checked and also consider long surnames. If the kit is for competition, check the organiser’s rules before asking for final sizes or positions: this guide doesn’t replace the competition regulations.
How to prepare your project
Prepare a note with vertical order and priority, for example name, number, sponsor. Say what can be reduced and what must stay dominant. Check the draft at a normal viewing size, not just zoomed in, and compare it with the front to avoid a visually unbalanced kit.
Before continuing
- Readable hierarchy
- Longest surname check
- Check of the extreme sizes
Is it always better to shrink the sponsor?
There’s no universal size. The choice depends on available space, graphics and the terms agreed with the partner.
